My research interests are focused on sex differences with psychostimulants. My current project is investigating sex differences in cocaine-induced behavioral sensitization using Japanese quail. Quail are equipped with color vision and have high visual acuity. Circulating hormone levels may be altered by photostimulation, therefore not necessarily requiring surgery in the quail. Therefore, Japanese quail may be of additional value when investigating sex differences on drug abuse.
