My current and future research aspirations are focused on a psychopharmacological approach for treatment of drug use and neurodegenerative disorders, with emphasis on the underlying pathways and neurochemical mechanisms involved in the development of these disorders. My recent research focuses on the role of intracellular calcium in drug-induced neurodegeneration, calpain and caspase signaling, and neuroinflammation in vitro and in vivo.
