UK Center for Drug Abuse Research Translation Receives NIH Grant

The University of Kentucky Center for Drug Abuse Research Translation (CDART) has received a $7 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), funding which will continue the center's long history of developing novel intervention strategies that target high-risk individuals.

Ambassadorial Opportunities: Calvin Chan

Calvin Chan is one of the Co-Coordinators of the 2011-2012 A&S Ambassadors. Chan is also a brother of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, the Vice-President of the Psychology Honor Society (Psi Chi), and Pre-Med AMSA. He has also served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Center for Drug Abuse and Research Translation. In this podcast, Chan discusses his role as an ambassador and how current undergrads can get involved.

Drug Use and Adolescents: Michael Bardo

Michael Bardo, a professor in the Department of Psychology and the director of CDART (the Center for Drug Abuse Research Translation), is dedicated to finding out the biological phenomena that underlie behaviors associated with drug abuse and to finding ways to make that research useful to programs that develop and provide prevention services. Bardo discusses his findings and ideas for how to enhance drug abuse education in the future.

Michael Bardo Named 2011 William B. Sturgill Award Recipient

Director of the Center for Drug Abuse Research Translation and Department of Psychology Professor Michael Bardo has been named a 2011 William B. Sturgill Award recipient. The award is presented anually to a graduate faculty member for outstanding contributions to graduate education at the University of Kentucky. "Winning the Sturgill Award is such a high honor for me because my past trainees have been so successful," Bardo began.
