Amber L. Billingsley
Clinical Assistant Professor
Director, Jesse G. Harris, Jr. Psychological Services Center (The Harris Center)

I am a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and serve as the Director of the Jesse G. Harris, Jr. Psychological Services Center, the training clinic for our clinical psychology doctoral program. My professional focus is on teaching and clinical supervision, where I emphasize the importance of flexibility, creativity, and humility in developing trainees. As much of my clinical and research background was in the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders and obsessive–compulsive disorder, I particularly enjoy supervising trainees who are working with those populations. In my supervisory work, I emphasize evidence-based practice and aim to provide trainees with a rigorous grounding in behavioral and cognitive-behavioral principles. I am also committed to outreach and community engagement, with particular interest in improving accessibility to high-quality, affordable mental health services.

I do not accept graduate students for research mentorship; rather, my role is exclusively centered on clinical training, with the objective of preparing students to become effective, scientifically-informed practitioners.
