Individual Therapy
The Harris Center offers psychotherapy for adults, children, and couples. Psychiatric consultation to assess need for medication is also available. Treatment is provided for a full range of issues, including but not limited to:

Groups
Adult
DBT Skills Training Group - Ongoing
Focus: Coping skills training for persons with borderline personality disorder, based on Linehan's dialectical behavior therapy model.
Format: Weekly sessions for one year for adults.
Content: Topics include regulating emotions, being more effective in relationships, and dealing with stressful situations. Sessions consist of lectures, discussion, and homework activities.

Children
Happy Healthy Kids, Coping Skills for Children - offered periodically
Focus: Teaching skills to effectively manage frustration, anxiety, stress, and other difficult emotions.
Format: 6-week after-school class for children grades 3rd to 5th.
Content: Topics include understanding and recognizing emotions, learning how to control your emotions, appropriately expressing emotions, problem solving, and perspective taking. Classes consist of lectures, group discussions/activities, and homework activities.
Assessments
Assessments of learning disabilities, attention deficit/hyperactivity (ADHD), intelligence and personality for both adults and children may be obtained at the center. Assessments range in price from $450 to $500. UK staff and students are eligible for a 10% discount on assessment services at the Harris Center. Please call (859.257.6853) for more information.
