Outstanding Psychology Major Award
The recipient will be given a certificate and $200.00
Eligibility:
Applicant must be a junior or senior psychology major currently enrolled at the UK/Lexington campus.
Application Materials:
Students can either be nominated by a faculty member or submit a self-nomination to the Tamra Nowitzki, the department manager, (email tamra.nowitzki@uky.edu). Self-nominations should include:
- Student’s name.
- Name of award.
- Student’s UKY email address.
- One letter of recommendation from a faculty member (emailed directly to tamra.nowitzki@uky.edu).
- Application form.
- Additional supporting materials (e.g., personal statement, CV, etc.).
Application materials are due by April 3, 2026, at 3 p.m. and should be emailed to Tamra Nowitzki at tamra.nowitzki@uky.edu. Students should also ask a faculty member to submit a letter of recommendation by the same due date. It is anticipated that award winner will be notified before or on April 27 by email.
Mary Agnes Gordon Scholarship
Two recipients will be given a certificate and $1,500 scholarship.
Eligibility: Applicant must be a full-time junior or senior psychology major currently enrolled at the UK/Lexington campus and resident of Kentucky who will return for the following academic year. The selection of the recipients will be based on GPA, involvement in activities related to psychology and evidence of financial need.
Application Materials: Students can either be nominated by a faculty member or submit a self-nomination through Scholarship UniverseLinks to an external site.. Self-nominations should include:
- Student’s name.
- Name of award.
- Student’s UKY email address.
- One letter of recommendation from a faculty member (submitted by recommender through Scholarship Universe).
- Application form.
- Additional supporting materials (e.g., personal statement, CV, etc.).
Deadline: March 1, 2026
Submission: Application materials are due by March 1, 2026, and should be submitted through Scholarship Universe.
Psychology Education Abroad Scholarship
Receive up to $2,000
Eligibility:
Applicant must be a junior or senior psychology major currently enrolled at the UK/Lexington campus. Must study abroad for a full semester, ideally during their Junior or first semester of Senior year. Preference given to those with research experience or who plan to conduct research during their study abroad semester.
Qualifications
- Declared psychology major
- Participating in a fall, spring, or year long program (summer programs are not eligible)
- Have earned at least sixty (60) credit hours
- Have a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Faculty member recommendation
- Have unmet financial need
Additionally, preference will be given to students who have been engaged in research at UK or who will be conducting research during their time abroad. When completing your application, be sure to review information on the "Craft a Strong Application" link at the top of the scholarship page!

Excellence in Internship/Service Learning Award
The recipient will be given a certificate and $50.
Eligibility:
All psychology majors.
Selection Process:
By faculty nomination. Faculty nomination will be sought out in February-March.
Criteria:
- Evidence that students contributed to community well-being that goes beyond their own experiential learning.
- Evidence that students well represented Psychology Department and the University.
- Evidence that students demonstrated professionalism.
- Evidence that students demonstrated excellence in class assignments.
